Ohio senators are trying to overhaul the state’s medical marijuana system after it stalled out last session. During a hearing, proponents testified to numerous concerns they had with the existing program, such as lack of competition and qualifying conditions.
Ted Bibart painted a stark picture of the current state of Ohio’s system and lawmakers agreed the program is ‘dying’. However, the idea of them taking the initiative and crafting their own version was dismissed. They argued the ballot initiative offers little regulation and suggested it was similar to putting a still in a backyard.
